Corrugated Scarf

Lion Brand® Wool-Ease® Thick & Quick®

9 sts = 4 in. (10 cm) in Stockinette st (knit on right side, purl on wrong side). When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

K5, p5 Rib (multiple of 10 sts)
Row 1:
*K5, p5, rep from * across.
Row 2: K the knit sts and p the purl sts.
Rep Row 2 for K5, p5 Rib.

Circular needle is used to accommodate large number of sts. Work back and forth on circular needle as if working on straight needles.

Cast on 110 sts.
K 2 rows.
Change to k5, p5 Rib, and work until piece measures about 4 1/2 in. (11.5 cm) from beg.
K 1 row.
Eyelet Row: *K3, yo, k2tog, rep from * to last 5 sts, end k5.
Next Row: Knit.
Continue in k5, p5 Rib and work until piece measures about 9 3/4 in. (25 cm) from beg. Knit 1 row. Bind off.

With crochet hook, make chain about 53 in. (134.5 cm) long.
Slip st in 2nd chain from hook and in each chain across.
Fasten off.
Weave cord through eyelet row of Scarf.
Weave in ends.

Corrugated Scarf Reviewed by Lynn Phimsoutham on 2013-11-30 *****
This was a quick, easy, functional yet elegant scarf to knit. Everyone who saw it wanted me to make them one. This scarf is rated skill Level 2, but I am going to introduce it to the students in the beginners class.
