STITCH EXPLANATION:

sc2tog (sc decrease) Insert hook into st and draw up a loop. Insert hook into next st and draw up a loop. Yarn over, draw through all 3 loops on hook.

NOTES:

1. Work in continuous rnds; do not join or turn unless otherwise instructed.
2. To change color, work to last yarnover of st, yarnover with new color.

SNAKE
HEAD AND BODY
With A, ch 2.
Rnd 1: Work 3 sc in first ch. Place marker in first st for beg of rnd; move marker up as each rnd is completed.
Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in each st around – 6 sts.
Rnd 3: *2 sc in next st, sc in next st, rep from * around – 9 sts.
Rnd 4: *2 sc in next st, sc in next 2 sts, rep from * around – 12 sts.
Rnd 5: Sc in each of first 3 sts, 2 sc in next st (increase for eye), sc in next 4 sts, 2 sc in next st (increase for eye), sc in last 3 sts – 14 sts.
Rnd 6: Sc in each of first 3 sts, 2 sc in each of next 2 sts, sc in next 4 sts, 2 sc in each of next 2 sts, sc in last 3 sts – 18 sts.
Rnd 7: Sc in first 3 sts, (sc2tog) twice, sc in next 4 sts, (sc2tog) twice, sc in last 3 sts – 14 sts.
Rnd 8: Sc in first 3 sts, sc2tog, sc in next 4 sts, sc2tog, sc in last 3 sts – 12 sts. Following package directions, attach safety eyes at increase points of Rnds 5 and 6. Stuff piece firmly. Continue stuffing piece as work progresses.
Rnd 9: Sc in first 3 sts, sc2tog, sc in next 2 sts, sc2tog, sc in last 3 sts – 10 sts. Change to B.
Rnd 10: Sc in each st around. Change to A.
Rnds 11-14: Work 2 sc in next st, sc in next 2 sts, (sc2tog) twice, sc in next 2 sts, work 2 sc in last st – 10 sts. Change to B.
Rnd 15: Sc in each st around. Change to A.
Rnd 16-65: Rep Rnds 11-15.
Rnd 66: Sc in first 3 sts, (sc2tog) twice, sc in last 3 sts – 8 sts.
Rnd 67: Sc in first 2 sts, (sc2tog) twice, sc in last 2 sts – 6 sts.
Rnd 68: Sc in first st, (sc2tog) twice, sc in last st – 4 sts. Fasten off.

FINISHING
Weave in ends.

I took the advice in another review and used a verrigated yarn (tangerine mist from the tommy tiger pattern). Without having to change colors it worked up well. The sprial effect was great. Lots of fun. My HUSBAND comenderd it for his truck mascot !! ha ha. :) so will be making more for the grandson!!
