STITCH EXPLANATION:

picot: (Sc, ch 3, sc) in indicated st.

SCARF
With 2 strands held together, ch 47.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, *ch 5, skip 4 ch, sc in next ch; rep from * across – 9 ch-5 sps.
Row 2: Ch 5, turn, picot in 3rd ch of first ch-5 sp, *ch 5, picot in 3rd ch of next ch-5 sp; rep from * 7 more times, ch 2, dc in last sc.
Row 3: Ch 1, turn, sc in first st, *ch 5, picot in 3rd ch of next ch-5 sp; rep from * 7 more times, ch 5, sc in 3rd ch of last ch-5 sp.
Rep Rows 2 and 3 until piece measures 60 in. (152.5 cm) from beginning, end with Row 2.
Next Row: Ch 1, turn, sc in first st, *ch 5, sc in 3rd ch of next ch-5 sp; rep from * 8 more times. Do not fasten off.

FINISHING
Border
Continuing with 2 strands, ch 1, sc evenly around all edges of scarf, working 3 sc in each corner; join with slip st in first sc. Fasten off.
Weave in ends.

Lion Brand's Shimmer Mesh Scarf pattern was very easy to follow and it turned out beautiful. I used 2 balls of boysenberry-color, worsted-weight, 100% wool superwash yarn. It's simple enough to work while watching TV, without referring back to the pattern, yet it turns out elegant. I liked it so much that I made another in spring green.
