Mitered Scarf

Lion Brand® Wool-Ease®

GAUGE:

16 sts = 4 in. (10 cm) in Garter st (knit every row). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.


MITERED SQUARE (make 10)
With A, cast on 41 sts.
Row 1 and all RS rows: Knit.
Row 2: K19, k3tog, k19 - 39 sts.
Row 4: K18, k3tog, k18 - 37 sts.
Row 6: K17, k3tog, k17 - 35 sts.
Row 8: K16, k3tog, k16 - 33 sts.
Row 10: K15, k3tog, k15 - 31 sts.
Change to B.
Row 12: With B, k14, k3tog, k14 - 29 sts.
Row 14: K13, k3tog, k13 - 27 sts.
Row 16: K12, k3tog, k12 - 25 sts.
Change to C.
Row 18: With C, k11, k3tog, k11 - 23 sts.
Row 20: K10, k3tog, k10 - 21 sts.
Row 22: K9, k3tog, k9 - 19 sts.

Change to B.
Row 12: K2tog, k7, k3tog, k7, k2tog - 17 sts.

Row 16: K2tog, k3, k3tog, k3, k2tog - 9 sts.
Change to E.
Row 18: K2tog, k1, k3tog, k1, k2tog - 5 sts.
Row 20: K5tog - 1 st.
Fasten off.

FINISHING Arrange Squares and Triangles, placing Squares point to point into a long strip and placing Triangles in spaces along the sides between the Squares, as shown in Assembly Diagram. Sew pieces together. Weave in ends.
