 BAT
Cast on 48 stitches. Work in Stockinette stitch (knit on right side, purl on wrong side) for 25 in. (63.5 cm). Bind off.
FELTING
Wash by machine on a hot wash/cold rinse cycle with detergent and several pieces of clothing to agitate. Gently pull into shape and allow to dry flat.
FINISHING
With chalk, trace bat pattern onto felted piece. Cut out on marked line.
Fold wire in half and twist at fold to form a small loop. Center wire onto wrong side of felted piece, with loop extending above bat’s head. Shape each end of wire to follow wing contours. Whipstitch over wire to hold in place.

| No idea why the other commenter said this piece was difficult. Knit a row, purl a row repeat over and over, felt and cut out. How remedial does a pattern have to be to be considered easy? Wish I had time to make enough for all my son's classmates.
