24sts= 4 in. (10 cm) over pattern with larger needles. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

3/3 LC (3 over 3 left cross) Slip 3 sts to cable needle and hold in front, k3, then k3 from cable needle.

K2, p2 Rib
Row 1 (RS): K2, *p2, k2; rep from *.
Row 2: P the purl sts and k the knit sts.
Rep Row 2 for K2, p2 rib.

With smaller needles, cast on 56sts.
Work in K2, p2 rib until piece measures about 2 1/2 in. (6.4 cm) from beg,decrease1 st at end of last row – 55sts.
Change to larger needles.
Row 1 (RS):K1tbl, p1, k1tbl, *p2, k6, p2, k1tbl, p1, k1tbl, rep from * 3 more times.
Rows 2, 4, and 6:P1tbl, k1, p1tbl, *k2, p6, k2, p1tbl, k1, p1tbl, rep from * 3 more times.
Row 3: K1tbl, p1, k1tbl, *p2, 3/3 LC, p2, k1tbl, p1, k1tbl, rep from * 3 more times.
Rows 5 and 7: Rep Row 1.
Row 8:Rep Row 2.
Rep Rows 1-8 until piece measures about69 in. (175 cm) from beg, end with a Row 8 and increase 1 st at end of last row.
Change to smaller needles.
Work in K2, p2 rib for 2.5 in. (6.4 cm). Bind off.

Weave in ends.

I agree with the comments on the p1tbl making the edges look funny.

Also, for Line 3, it only has 53 stitches in it.
