Ch 3, sl st in beg ch to form a ring.
Row 1: Ch 3 (does not count as st in this row and in all following rows), 9 dc in ring, do not join.
Note: The turning ch-3 does not count as first dc in each row. This means that you should work your first dc into the very first st (at base of turning ch-3), unless you are instructed to sk the first st. When you reach the end of a row, do not work into the top of the turning ch-3, unless instructed to do so. When counting sts, do not count the turning ch.

GAUGE:

18 sts + 9 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in pattern.

BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

SHAWL
Ch 3; join with slip st in first ch to form a ring.

FINISHING
Edging Ch 1, turn, work (sc in next st, dc in next 2 sts, treble (triple) crochet in next 2 sts, dc in next 2 sts) evenly spaced around Shawl. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

As the other reviewer said the directions were a little confusing. I used up all of my yarn and was only at row 26. I had bought enough to make 2 shawls now I have to spend more money to finish one and make sure I have enough for the other. What I ended up with looks nice but my husband encouraged me to buy more yarn to make it as it should be.
