GAUGE:

Square = about 3 1/4 in. (8 cm). When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Candy Color Afghan Reviewed by Sheila Shaw on 2014-07-21 *
The yarn used for this project is thin, making the afghan wear quickly. It takes time not worth the end results. Granny squares are beautiful but not when using thinner yarns. I made a few squares to get the feel of the yarn and tore it out. The use of the smaller hook makes this a time hogger for sure. Disappointed but will make again in a heavier yarn with a larger hook.
