GAUGE:
7 sc = 4 in. (10 cm). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION:

And easy pattern to follow and works up very quickly (I finished mine in an afternoon). It looks exactly as the photo. I do find that it is large as the band stretches quite a bit with wearing - I wish I had reduced the band by at least an inch for a tighter fit. (I have 22" head measuring from mid-forehead to back of my head below my ears.)
