16 sc x 4 rows = 4 inches (10 cm) BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

With larger hook, ch 4 Rows 1-4 Ch 1, turn. sc to end. Rows 5-8 Change to B, ch 1, turn. sc to end. Rows 9-12 Change to A, ch 1, turn. sc to end. Rows 13-16 Change to B, ch 1, turn. sc to end. Rows 17-20 Change to A, ch 1, turn. sc to end. Rows 21-24 Change to B, ch 1, turn. sc to end. Rows 25-28 Change to A, ch 1, turn. sc to end. Rows 29-32 Change to B, ch 1, turn. sc to end. FINISHING
Cut 8 strands of A, each approximately 4 inches (10 cm) in length. Cut
6 strands of B, each approximately 4 inches [10 cm long]
Starting with A and ending with A, for a total of 7 fringe pieces, using
smaller crochet hook and alternating colors, pull a strand of yarn through each
stitch at the end and loop to make a fringe. Trim fringe evenly to approximately
½ inch (1.25 cm).

this bookmark is awesome! it really saves me a loe of time when i read my books because everybookmark i've had, i've lost, andi know what's ot say that i wwon't lose this one, but if i do, at least i still have a way to make another one, so i canl lose it! and redo it on the next day. but, so far i have kept track of this bookmark. i didnt make it in the colors that it was supossed to be made in but it still looks nice
