GAUGE:

5 sts + 5 rows = 4 in. [10 cm] in St st (k on RS, p on WS) with 3 strands of yarn held together. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you less stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

NOTES:

GAUGE5 sts + 5 rows = 4 in. [10 cm] in St st (k on RS, p on WS) with 3 strands of yarn held together. Due to the nature of the fabric when working with Speed Stix, gauge may vary throughout the knitting and is not crucial to this project.

SHRUG
With 3 strands of yarn held together, cast on 34 sts. Work in St st until piece measures 32 in. [81.5 cm] from beginning. Bind off.

Finishing
Fold piece in half with RS together, as shown in diagram. Sew side seams, leaving 7 in. [18 cm] open at each side for armholes. Weave in ends.

Cocoon Shrug Reviewed by isabela Anaguano on 2008-05-09 *****
I made the body of the cocoon shrug and then I finished the sleeves and collar with flattering crochet pattern. So cute! I look like a princess with it (Ok, my boyfriend says). I recommend the pattern and the wool even if I am not a beginner, it permits lots of creative solutions for a final project.
