I was inspired to create the Lisbon Beanie after a trip to Portugal left me awestruck by all the
gorgeous tilework covering the buildings that line the city’s cobblestone streets. Even a simple design on a small tile square became mesmerizingly beautiful when I took a step back and looked at the pattern created by hundreds of those tiles placed together. Using simple 4-stitch colorwork repeats, the Lisbon Beanie mimics that idea of transforming something small and basic into sooooo much more when knit into a bigger-picture pattern. This design offers two brim options and so many choices for color combos—let your sense of adventure be your guide!
This kit will yield three versions of the Lisbon Beanie (plus three small yarn poms) simply by switching up the order of the colors you use.
19 sts and 24 rounds = 4” (10 cm) square in stockinette and 19 sts and 23 rounds = 4” (10 cm) square in 1x1 ribbing (Brim Option 1) using smaller gauge needles.
19 sts and 23 rounds = 4” (10 cm) square in 1x1 ribbing (Brim Option 2) using smaller gauge needles.
18 sts and 19 rounds = 4” (10 cm) square in the stranded pattern and stockinette (beanie body) using larger gauge needles.

Height: 9.25” (23.5 cm)
This beanie is designed to be worn with approximately 3” (7.5 cm) of negative ease and fit an adult head measuring up to 22.5” (57 cm).
