I was so pleased with how this turned out. The scarf was my first attempt at Tunisian crochet, and I’m in love with how it turned out. Part of that was the colors. I used the “blue lagoon” Landscapes colorway with “white sands” Heartland as my neutral, and I kept being surprised over and over every time I picked the project back up how much I loved how it looked. The pattern itself was very easy to follow. Toni has some video tutorials as well, if that’s something you find useful. Even for a rank beginner, I had no difficulty figuring out what to do.
But if any other rank beginners are reading this, here are a few things I didn’t know to expect based on the pictures: 1) the “boxes” of the pattern are open on the sides. From the artfully done pictures, I thought all the “boxes” would be complete with four sides, and that the sides of the scarf would have the neutral color border, just like the ends. At first, I wasn’t super pleased with the unfinished look of having the end boxes only having three sides. When I set out, I assumed I would finish it off by adding a slip stitch border or something to the sides, but the longer I worked on it, the more used to it I got, and by the end I wasn’t bothered by it at all and left it as is. 2) It seems obvious in retrospect, but since this was my first Tunisian project, I wasn’t thinking, but this is a single-sided project. Meaning the back doesn’t look like the front. There’s definitely a right side with the intended pattern and a wrong side that you would turn so it isn’t showing. I loved my colors so much that I wasn’t super bothered by it, but one side is definitely more aesthetically pleasing than the other.
