Exact gauge is not essential to this project.
NOTES:
1. If a peg is loose and pops out of the loom, tear a tiny piece of tissue paper (about a 1/4 inch square, and put it over the hole before pushing the peg in. The paper will act as a shim, tightening up the peg in the hole. 2. All pieces are turned inside out to make them more textural.
PANDA BEAR
SHAPE #1 Loom Configuration Use the following pieces: (4) 6 hole corner pieces. Connect pieces to form Shape #1 as follows: corner piece > corner piece > corner piece > corner piece. Insert 1 large green peg in one corner and 1 pink peg in each remaining corner, and 2 pink pegs in each side, skipping one hole between all pegs for a total of 12 pegs.
NOTES 1. Shape #1 is knit on a square frame but will form a circular tube as it comes off the loom. 2. The instructions in the loom manual for casting on are the same for both flat knitting and knitting in the round. These instructions are under the heading of SINGLE KNITTING. 3. Always work in a clockwise direction around loom to knit in the round. 4. The contrast color peg marks the beginning of each round.
Eye Patches (make 2) With 1 strand of A, knit 4 rounds. Cut yarn and gather last row as follows: Thread yarn end into the yarn needle packaged with the loom. Insert needle through the stitches and pull the yarn through. Insert the needle through the stitches again, then gather stitches together. Weave yarn end into the inside of the piece.
Ears (make 2) With 1 strand of A, knit 5 rounds. Cut yarn and gather last row as for Eye Patches.
Arms/Legs (make 4) With 1 strand of A, knit 25 rounds. Cut yarn and gather last row as for Eye Patches.
Feet (make 2) With 1 strand of A, knit 10 rounds. Cut yarn and gather last row as for Eye Patches.
Muzzle (make 1) With 1 strand of B, knit 10 rounds. Cut yarn and gather last row as for Eye Patches.

Loom Configuration Use the following pieces: (2) 28-hole semi-circle pieces. Connect pieces to form Shape #2 as follows: 28-hole semi-circle piece > 28-hole semi-circle piece. Insert 1 large green peg in one hole, and 1 pink peg in every other hole, for a total of 28 pegs. Body and Head (make 1) With 1 strand of B, knit 35 rounds. Cut yarn and gather last row as for Eye Patches.
Shoulder band (make 1) With 1 strand of A, knit 7 rounds. Cut yarn and pick up all stitches in last row, but don't pull up yet.
FINISHING Note: Unless otherwise specified, use matching color yarn threaded into the yarn needle provided with the loom to sew pieces together.

Body and Head Stuff the Body and Head. Pin the lower edges together in a straight line.
Sew the lower edge of the Body closed.
Neck About 4 in. (10 cm) from the top of the head, shape the neck by sewing straight stitches around the Body. Pull yarn up tightly then wrap around the neck and stitch in place several times to secure. Weave the ends inside the Body.
Shoulders Slip the shoulder section over the Head and gather the last round around the neck. Pull up the yarn, then sew the lower edge to the Body.
Legs and Feet Stuff the Legs and pin the upper edges closed. Stuff the Feet. Sew the Feet to the Legs, then sew the Legs to Body.
Arms Stuff the Arms. Sew the Arms to the Body at shoulders.
Ears Sew the Ears to the head.
Muzzle Stuff the Muzzle then sew to head.
Eyes Flatten the Eye Patches, then fold in edges to make an oval. Sew the patches to the Panda's face. Sew the buttons firmly to the Panda’s face. Note: Do NOT use buttons if the Panda is for a child. Instead, sew on small felt circles.
Nose and Mouth With C, embroider the nose with straight vertical stitches. With C, embroider the mouth by making a horizontal stitch, and then curving the stitch by sewing small stitches over it.

Easy and fun! I did him with blue and purple to give him a 'cozy' look, it was easy to make and patch together! You can help and let the kiddos make the parts for their bears and then you patch them together. Now why I say to let the kids do it is because it's such a fun and easy craft for 6+ to do!! And the children will be proud they made their own soon to be best friend!!!!! A FIVE HUNDRED STAR RATING!!
