Image of Beginner's Beanie
Bright and colorful for even the grayest mornings, this beanie glows in any shade of Homespun. The hat is crocheted in the round from the top down to the brim, and is a perfect project for a new crocheter interested in practicing crochet in the round and basic increases.

Beginner's Beanie

Lion Brand® Homespun®

GAUGE:

8 single crochet and 10 rows = 4 in. (10 cm). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

NOTES:

1. Beanie is worked in continuous rounds. Do not join at end of rounds.
2. Round 1 begins at the top of the Beanie. You will be working in single crochet and increasing the number of stitches to create the Beanie.
3. To increase a stitch, the pattern will tell you to work 2 single crochet in the next stitch. By working 2 stitches in 1 stitch, you have increased 1 stitch.
4. At the end of each increase round, you will see - with a specific number of stitches. This number tells you how many stitches you will have after working the increases on that round.
5. Before you fasten off, try the Beanie on and decide whether it's the right length for you. If you'd like it to be longer, just crochet another round or two.
