GAUGE:

One Motif = About 4 x 4 in. (10 x 10 cm). When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Multi-Color Granny Square Shawl Reviewed by Patty Berlingieri on 2012-05-10 ****
I made this shawl with the suggested yarn. Unless this softens with washing, I feel the yarn is too scratchy to be worn next to the skin. As for the pattern itself, please read the instructions carefully. I made several mistakes on the early joins. That said, I like the pattern & once everything clicked it came together quickly. Weave your ends as you go along, it takes only an extra minute. I would have given it 5 stars had I liked the yarn better.
