Knit and Crochet Tunic

Lion Brand® Cotton-Ease® - Vanna's Glamour®

GAUGE:

17 sts + 19 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in St st (k on RS, p on WS) with larger needles and A.
21 sts = 4 in. (10 cm) and 12 rows = 5 in. (12.5 cm) in Granny Mesh with B.
17 dc + 10 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) with B.

When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

NOTES:

1. Tunic is made in 4 pieces, Back, Front, and 2 Sleeves.
2. Knit Back and Front are worked from the lower edge to the beg of yoke. Armhole shaping for Front begins in the knit portion, then continues into the crocheted yoke; armhole shaping for Back is worked only in the yoke.
3. Yokes are crocheted directly onto knit Back and Front. Sleeves are crocheted separately.
4. When you see 'work even' in the instructions, this means to continue in the pattern st you have established without changing the st count by increasing, decreasing, or binding off.
