Felted Soap Cozy With Acorn
Lion Brand® Fishermen's Wool®
GAUGE: Exact gauge is not essential to this project.
STITCH EXPLANATION: kfb (knit into front and then back)
An increase worked as follows:
1. Knit the next st through the front loop, but do not remove the st from your left hand needle.
2. Knit the same st once more, this time inserting your needle through the back loop of the st. You will have created 2 loops (sts) on your right hand needle.
3. Drop the st from your left hand needle - 1 st increased. |
NOTES: 1. Materials are sufficient to make multiple Cozies.
2. Due to the nature of the felting process, the size of your finished Cozy may vary.

Felting
Fill sink with hot water. Put on rubber gloves. Hold Cozy with one hand, rub surface of fabric with your other hand. Work over entire surface, lathering until sts begin to lose their definition. Rinse gently to remove soap residue. Allow to dry. Cozy will continue to felt as soap is used. |

| Felted Soap Cozy With Acorn Reviewed by Danielle Hyatt on 2011-10-28 |
     |
The rectangle is nice. I've made soap bags before, on a rope, and they are refillable by opening the drawsting end of the bag. Of course the drawstring necessitates losing the rectangle shape,
The only other solution I can think of is to create an envelope where you knit a flap at one end that you insert into the rectangle body along with the soap. After wetting the "soap in a box" and letting it dry, the soap suds should keep the flap inside, plastered to the bar of soap. As the soap disappears, so will the soap "plaster" that keeps it all together, but time to put in a new bar anyway. Take out the soap slivers and put them in the soap on a rope bag that has a drawstring that keeps the soap slivers inside and allows you to use it right down to the last suds.
