Holiday Welcome Wreath

Lion Brand® Holiday Homespun®

Exact gauge is not essential to this project.

Tassel Wrap yarn around 6 in. (15 cm) cardboard 6 times. Cut a piece of yarn 12 in. (30.5 cm) long and thread doubled onto large-eyed blunt needle. Insert needle under all strands at upper edge of cardboard. Pull tightly and knot securely near strands. Cut yarn loops at lower edge of cardboard. Cut a piece of yarn 12 in. (30.5 cm) long and wrap tightly around loops 1 in. (2.5 cm) below top knot to form Tassel neck. Knot securely.

Apply a small amount of glue to foam wreath, then wrap evenly with A. Continue applying small amounts of glue, then wrapping with A until wreath is completely covered.
Cut B into three 72 in. (183 cm) strands. Holding three strands together, wrap diagonally around Wreath about 11 times. Glue ends to back of Wreath.
With A, make number of desired Tassels.
Glue Tassel heads on top of B stripes to add texture and a natural look to the Wreath. Tassel heads may be omitted if preferred.
Tie yarn tails of Tassels around Wreath to secure.

BALLS (make as many as desired)
Apply a small amount of glue to ball, then wrap evenly with B. Continue applying small amounts of glue, then wrapping with B until ball is completely covered.

Glue Balls to surface of Wreath as desired.

Holiday Welcome Wreath Reviewed by Lara Buser on 2009-10-02 ***
Nice wreath. However, I don't see the tassels. It looks like you just used them as a means of adding a "criss cross" to the red stripes. So, just add another stripe in the first color. We don't need additional work that doesn't even show up. This is a beautiful wreath and adding additional balls wrapped in green (color A) works just fine. This is a fun wreath to make and I am going to give it a try with my grandkids using a jiffy yarn and purchased pompoms. They are still little and wrapping all those balls will not work for them just yet but they like crafting with Grandma. Thanks for the design.
