Knit Flower: Arum Lily

Note: Made with 4 double-pointed knitting needles


Stem 
Using 2 double-pointed needles and color A, make an i-cord (click here for directions) 11/4in. long. Now work one row: 
Row 1 (RS): Kpk in each st. 9 sts. Divide sts, putting 3 sts on each of 3 double-pointed needles and continue in rounds: 
Round 1: K. 
Round 2: [K1, kpk in next st] 3 times. 15 sts. 
Rounds 3-6: K. Fill this cavity with spare yarn. 
Round 7: [K1, s2kpo, k1] 3 times. 9 sts. 

Spathe Change to color B. K 4 rounds, turn. Continue in rows but still using double-pointed needles: 
Row 1 and odd rows: P. 
Row 2: K1, [m1, k1] 8 times. 17 sts. 
Row 4: K1, [m1, k1] 16 times. 33 sts, 
Row 6: K1, m1, k to last st, m1, k1. 35 sts. 
Row 8: As 6th row. 37 sts. Beginning with a p row, work 3 rows St st. 
Row 12: [K2, ssk[ 4 times, k5, [k2tog, k2] 4 times. 29 sts. 
Row 14: [K2, ssk] 3 times, k5, [k2tog, k2] 3 times. 23 sts. 
Row 16: [K2, ssk] twice, k7, [k2tog, k2] twice. 19 sts. 
Row 18: [K2, ssk] twice, k3, [k2tog, k2] twice. 15 sts. 
Row 20: K2, ssk, k2, s2kpo, k2, k2tog, k2. 11 sts. 
Row 22: K2, ssk, s2kpo, k2tog, k2. 7 sts. 
Row 24: K2, s2kpo, k2. 5 sts. 
Row 26: K1, s2kpo, k1. 3 sts. 
Row 28:S2kpo. Fasten off remaining st. 

Spike Using color C, cast on 10 sts. K 1 row. Slipping first st, bind off. 

Finishing Insert spike and secure. 

Stitch Explanation: KPK = Knit, purl, knit into the same stitch. 
S2KPO = Slip two stitches as if to knit two together, knit one, pass the slipped stitch over
