Method

Make a slip ring.
1st round: 6 sc stitches in ring, pull end to close ring, ss in each of 2sc. (6 sts)
2nd round: 2sc in each st. (12 sts)
3rd round: [1sc in next st, 2sc in next st] 6 times. (18 sts)
4th round: [2sc in next st, 1sc in next 5 sts] 3 times. (21 sts)
5th round: 1sc in each of next 9 sts, 2sc in next st, 1sc in each of next 10 sts, 2sc in next st. (23 sts)
6th round: 1sc in each of next 11sts, dec in next 2sc, 1sc in each of next 10 sts. (22 sts)
7th round: 1sc in each of next 2 sts, [1sc in each of next 3 sts, dec in next 2 sts] 4 times. (18 sts)
8th round: [1sc in each of next 7 sts, dec in next 2 sts] 2 times. (16 sts)
9th round: 1sc in next st, [1sc in each of next 3 sts, dec in next 2 sts]. (13 sts)
10th round: 1sc in next st, [1sc in each of next 3 sts, 2sc in next st] 3 times. (16 sts)
11th round: 1sc in each of next 14 sts, ss in each of next 2sc. (16 sts)
12th round: [Ss into next st in row 11, 10ch, starting 2nd ch from hook, ss in each of next 4 sts, sc in each of next 5 sts. Ss in next st from row 11] 8 times. Fasten off.

Making up
Using contrasting embroidery thread, make two French knots between 10th and 11th round, spaced apart, on either side of the two tentacles.
