After using my new winder awhile, I still love it. It makes center pull cakes that sit flat and don't roll. Though, it also works nicely if you work the yarn from the outside of the cake, its just different. These small cakes are the perfect size to cart around with me, unlike a large skein. When winding, be sure to go slowly ENOUGH that the yarn doesnt wind in a round fashion and fall off the ends or get caught below in the workings. Been there, done that. Having a few nice neat cakes are their own reward for going slow, with a little bit of tension. Since you've seen the yarn from end to end you can deal with any knots or unwanted parts BEFORE you work it up in your project. I would buy this again and even give it as a gift to a fellow crafter who unfortunately doesnt have one yet. I do wish there was a way to keep the silver arm from coming out of its locked place. I often have to stop the process and pull the arm back out. I resorted to a piece of tape to hold it, but that loosens too. Still love it!
