It does the job

You need to be gentle but it does the job. If you aren’t careful the yarn can get twisted around the post below the spinner which is a pain to get out.

The clamp doesn’t fit onto any of my tables so I installed it onto a 4” x 24” x 1/2” piece of plywood. I hold it in my lap and let the yarn dance around the floor and the cats enjoy that.

Best $30 I've ever spent

I didn't know how much I needed this until I got it. This has made crocheting so much easier and has made my yarn storage much more organized. I've spent so much time balling yarn and it's legitimately so soothing to watch it spinning while simultaneously organizing my yarn! I highly recommend this product. 15,000 stars. Seriously. If I could rate this that high, I would.

Nice winder

This can save time and space. It turns smoothly and if you don’t have a table to clamp it to you can indeed clamp it between yon knees or hold it in one hand and crank with the other (I’ve tried all 3 methods). Makes nice little center pull cakes that slide right off the spool-nice very easy. Now I can shop for more yarn! Ha!

Still in Love

After using my new winder awhile, I still love it. It makes center pull cakes that sit flat and don't roll. Though, it also works nicely if you work the yarn from the outside of the cake, its just different. These small cakes are the perfect size to cart around with me, unlike a large skein. When winding, be sure to go slowly ENOUGH that the yarn doesnt wind in a round fashion and fall off the ends or get caught below in the workings. Been there, done that. Having a few nice neat cakes are their own reward for going slow, with a little bit of tension. Since you've seen the yarn from end to end you can deal with any knots or unwanted parts BEFORE you work it up in your project. I would buy this again and even give it as a gift to a fellow crafter who unfortunately doesnt have one yet. I do wish there was a way to keep the silver arm from coming out of its locked place. I often have to stop the process and pull the arm back out. I resorted to a piece of tape to hold it, but that loosens too. Still love it!

What an Elbow Saver!

What an elbow saver! This yarn winder is my first. It winds in a jiffy taking stress off the elbows vs. when winding by hand. It makes crocheting easier by producing a flat bottomed cake that pulls very smoothly from the center. If the winder comes off the surface its attatched to during winding, the surface likely isn't flat enough. Try another surface. I had that problem, changed where I used the winder and it solved the issue. Not the winder's fault. The attachment foot doesn't reach 1 1/2 inches like the box says. It's just less than 1 1/2 inches. When it's winding, it's smooth sailing and fun! I think it's worth the price and I would purchase it again.
