I don't use this for its intended purpose. instead, I bought this as a holder for my cone skeins so I could spin them and create a solid tension with my yarn. It works well for that if you're able to stabilize the bottom. When I was purchasing this, it appeared that the disk at the bottom was a flat surface, but that's on me for not knowing that the rod of the spindle continues down through the bottom hole.
