Nursing Homes

My Mother was in a Nursing Home and my Aunt made the comment that everyone
needs a teddy bear to hug. I have been buying at garage sales and washing
bears and many friends have been donating bears. I crochet outfits for
these bears and when I have a batch done up, take them in to the
nursing homes in the area and ask that the staff give them to those
that need them the most. I also make wheelchair lap covers and ask that
they do the same with them. I guess it is my way of paying back for
the care that was taken with both my Mother and Father.
The wool that I use is both purchased by me and donated by others.
As to date I have donated about 250 bears. I have just started to make
the lap covers this past year.
I don't need any coverage by the media. This is my gift.
According to the staff at the nursing homes these gifts are greatly
appreciated. One of the staff commented that she had seen people smile
that she hadn't seen smile before. They patted their gifts and talked to
