Caring and Sharing

While so many of us love making things for ourselves and our families, many in the Lion community go further, creating for those in need. Join us in this section and be touched by these true stories of caring and sharing submitted by Lion Brand readers.

This idea came to my mind a long time ago. I wanted to learn how to crochet so that I could make baby afghans and donate them to Right To Life. It remained a thought for many years then I decided to take a class. I learned the basics but still struggled on being efficient. I just kept at it until finally one day the light bulb went off and it all made sense. At the peak I was doing 4 baby afghans per year. I alternate whether the blanket is for a boy or a girl. I purchase a gift bag, card, and tissue paper for whatever gender that I am doing. Sometimes I will place something in the bag for the mommy. I also put the care directions on an index card inside the bag. Then I drop off the bag to RTL and they distribute the bags as needed by those coming in. I want the mommy to have something special for this little one that "thank God" she decided not to abort. I love doing this and I hope to continue it for many more years to come.
