Afghans for Other Cancer Patients

I became involved in crocheting and knitting afghans for children with cancer because I am also a cancer patient, and I wanted to do something to help a child feel better during their treatments. I know that I was scared during my treatment, and I cannot imagine how a child must feel. I wanted to turn something that was sad in my life into a positive thing.

I made them so that while they were having their cancer treatments they had a security blanket to hold on to.

I made the afghans while I myself was recovering from a full thyroidectomy due to cancer. I made four afghans and four hats during the six month time frame.

I would say to others who make items to help others, that it is a very noble thing to do. Helping others, and using your craft to do so a very good feeling to have. Especially when you do it out of love, and kindness in your heart.

I received a thank you letter from University hospitals for the blankets.

I am making another afghan right now.
