The Mitten Tree

Marge Williams was inspired by a children's book (The Mitten Tree) to have one in her restaurant every year around Christmas. I knit mittens for the tree, in varying children's sizes, all year long; my goal is to knit one pair every time I finish a project. This is a tandem goal with my goal to finish some of the long-standing WIPs I have. Last year I donated around a dozen or so. Marge and her mother knit all year long, as do other people, to make this project a success. We live in a small town in one of the poorest counties in Michigan, a state still limping along after the Recession; Marge does so much good for our town, and this project is only one of her good deeds.

If you google "The Hen House + Saint Helen, MI", you will probably find pictures - or can get them from The Hen House.
