Just helping second graders in Detroit, Michigan

I friend told me of a teacher in Detroit whose class of second graders has very little of anything in the way of clothes and supplies. The teacher even supplies toilet paper for the school kids, out of her own money. My friend saw a picture of some hats I crocheted for Christmas gifts and wondered if I wanted to make some for these kids, who were pretty cold when they walked to school. So I asked a friend, and we got together with a simple pattern, and got started. She did the boys, and I used left over yarns I had to make the girls. People have given me their left over yarn, so it seemed only right to pass it on! Our hats are almost completed. They will be read to send in another week or so. The kids don't know about it, and I'm not sure the teacher does yet. It will be a surprise for all, I hope.

As far as pictures, there are only photos of the hats so far. If you are interested, I am sure we can set up photos on the receiving end when the hats arrive. One photo I am sending shows some of the hats, boys and girls
