Knit-wits

I was teaching my aerobic class and when one of the ladied asked me what I did that weekend, I told her I crocheted a baby afghan for my niece.

She then told me that she would like me to attend the "Knitwit" meeting that meets once a month. This is a group that knits and crochets lapghans for the Veterans who are in the VA hospital and also knits and crochets baby afghans for the Child Crisis Center here in Phoenix.

We have many ladies making these lapghans, that we deliver them almost every quarter of the year. We must make at least 200 or 300 hundred. The items are beautiful and well made. The yarn is usually donated to the church where we meet from various sources. We take the yarn home and work on doing squares, then the squares are put together, very well matched and sewed together with a border. They are all made beautifully, pictures are taken of the lapghans/baby blankets and put into an album for memories.

We have heard some very positive remarks when we deliver these lapghans/baby blankets and children's blankets to these various charities and we trust that they will help others in time of trouble.

I am happy that I became involved with the "Knitwits" and am helping charity.

Thank you.
