Security Blankets

I became involved when the Care Centre I resident in made this their project for the month of March last year and I knew I had finally found what I had been looking to make afghans and that they would be given to children that needed them in a good way. I contact the organization and found someone in my county in Ohio who collected for The Project Linus and I have been doing it now for about a year. I have made about 25 afghans so far. I took Nov. and Dec. off to do things for Christmas for my own use. The Project Linus gives the items for children who need security in the life for some reason: illness (cancer for one), domestic shelters, and to schools where shootings have occurred, are a few examples. In Ohio we had a schools where 3 kids were killed and others injured, and blankets were given to the kids there and these were High School children, and when the 20 "little angels" were shot in Sandy Hook, the kids in Chardin contacted The Project and made arrangements to take blankets to the others to help them cope. I put on my Facebook page what I wanted to do and you would not believe the people who donated yarn so I can do this. Most of them I didn't know personally, but do now, and they ask me every now and then if I need more yarn. I have so much time on my hands and it helps keep me busy and it means a lot to me and I LOVE doing it. I also have made many baby afghans and just learn to make the Ruffled Scarves and made about 50 of them for employees here who wanted to give them as Christmas presents. Makes me feel so good when I know people use what I make. They want me to make them the Ear-Warmer headbands now. I had one on and now they want me to make them and sell them. The Centre will be having a Octoberfest and I am going to make things to sell for it to. I am enclosing some pictures of what I have made. Thank you for showing interest in what we do.......Lynne Capretta
