Knitting & Crocheting God's Love

I live in Central Florida and I have a group of 27 women who knit & crochet. I started this group about 2 years ago with 5-6 ladies from my church. Our first project was given to us by our pastor to make sweaters, socks, hats, mittens, afghans & scarves for a pastor's family in Russia. With all their adoptions, they had 19 children and 1 grandchild. Each family member received two of everything we made and all the rest was given to the orphanage that the church supported. Our ladies made over 200 items for this project.

Now we are donating everything we make to our local Hospice which receives Prayer Shawls, afghans, cancer caps, crocheted angels and our new project, shrugs. At Grace House, a crisis pregnancy facility, we donate baby booties, baby hats & baby blankets.

We meet once a month for a meeting and all the ladies bring everything they have made since our last meeting and myself and another member deliver them.

The chaplain at Hospice has related several stories of what our donated items have done for the patients and their families. Every item we make we attach a hand written note so that the person receiving it will know that the item was made especially for them and that it was done because of the Love of God in us for them and His love for them too.

Our group is growing. Every month we have 1 or 2 visitor's and they end up joining as a member.

I have attached a few pictures. The ones showing a large spread of items is the Russia project. We used 6, 6ft tables end to end and we covered them all and had to start piling upward to fit it all. Two pictures show Hospice patients wearing our chemo caps and an afghan. All of our items when presented to the patients, are theirs to keep. Neither Hospice or our ladies ask for them back. The families treasure them and we are blessed knowing what they have done for these people.
