Homemade Blanket Initiative

Hello, my name is Beth Elwood and I am the President and Founder of Hearts United Against Cancer. We are an official 501(c)(3) non-profit all volunteer organization that's mission is to deliver Care & Comfort Bundles to Men, Women, and Children who are going through cancer treatment for all types of cancer. We deliver Care & Comfort Baskets locally to individual Cancer Heroes, deliver Care & Comfort Bags to hospital treatment centers in our area and ship Care & Comfort Boxes to Cancer Heroes all throughout the country.

We have a Homemade Blanket Initiative that Bundles a homemade crocheted, knitted, quilted, sewed, or no sew fleece blanket with each basket, bag, or box. Our goal is to wrap all the Men, Women, and Children that we deliver Care & Comfort Bundles to in the warmth and support of a homemade blanket. Joining our talents together we will be able to achieve this mission!

We are looking for any homemade Crocheted, Knitted, Quilted, Sewed, or No Sew Fleece Lap blanket. The blankets should measure around 36 x 36 inches (note: a no sew fleece blanket will be longer because of the fabric width) and be washable.

12 inch individual crocheted or knitted blanket squares are welcomed too. You may use whatever hook, yarn, and pattern you wish as long as it’s a 12 inch square.

Each and every square is important and we greatly appreciate every square you are able to design! We will take the amazing squares you create and assemble them into blankets of 9 squares each, joining the skills of multiple people from all over the country.

However, if you can’t crochet, knit, quilt, or sew, we appreciate all donations of acrylic yarn and anti-pill fleece fabric. Two pieces of fabric (one coordinating print and one solid) each 1 ¼ yard long, is needed to complete a blanket.

If you knit or crochet: hats, gloves, scarves, slippers, shawls,
or stuffed animals they are appreciated too.

Thank you for uniting with us to wrap all
Cancer Heroes in warmth, love, and support.

Send your lovely creations to:
