Shawl for a Sister

We had already lost a sister-in-law to breast cancer and our mother to pancreatic cancer. I had just started working for a non-profit called The Cancer Project. I then got a call from one sister who got out between sobs that our older sister had been diagnosed with colon cancer.
I thought of what I could do to show support. (As for the knitting part, my mother had been craftsperson and my aunt had taught me one summer and I had even taught some students in a knitting club.) My husband and I went to visit at Thanksgiving. I gave her a triangle shawl knit in bamboo yarn in sunny colors. She said that it was helpful because she was always cold, and it would be useful during her chemo. Thankfully now the cancer is at least not getting worse and she is talking about going back to work.
