IF HOPE WAS A COLOR
Created By: ELLEN STITES
My dear friend Sherry was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 35. After several battles and remissions it became obvious that each treatment was not for a cure but for the purchase of time. I had made several prayer shawls in the past, while I mayself, was going through cancer treatments. It is an incredible way to keep you attention off of yourself.
I asked Sherry one day, if HOPE was a color what would it be. Without hesitation she responded PINK. I should have known, she has a pink flamingo in her flower bed. I made Sherry a pink prayer, prayed and cried over each stitch. When I gave it to her she was overwhelmed and said that no one had ever made something that was just for her. Sherry went home to Jesus on April 15, 2007, her eight year old son gave the shawl back to me as he promised his mom that he would. I've since had another one returned, I don't like it when they bumarang on me, but I can now wrap up in those shawls and feel that person with me, until the shawl tells me where it needs to be next.
