Friends Everywhere

Two years ago, my husband and I were on an Amtrak train in the observatory car. I had just finished a baby blanket for my newest grandchild and was making granny squares with the leftover yarn. A woman walking through stopped and commented that she had always wanted to learn how to crochet and continued on to the dining car. A while later she reappeared with a friend, yarn and knitting needles in hand. My husband graciously moved over, and as we visited and worked, two more women walked through and came back with their yarn and needles. My husband moved over, again! A young Amish woman was working on a beautiful table cover and she shyly joined us. Soon, another woman with her husband joined us and as my husband moved over, again, he had someone to talk to. We continued working and chatting for the rest of the afternoon. What a wonderful trip! The entire car was filled with knitters and crocheters and two husbands...friends can be found everywhere!
