When we travel, my husband heads for the antique...

When we travel, my husband heads for the antique shops and I head for the yarn shop. Since there is no specialty yarn shop in our hometown, I look for something different (frequently a yarn produced in that state) and then I knit on it for the remainder of the trip. It may be a purse, a scarf, a sweater--usually something I see made up in the shop that I want to make. Sometimes it's a special gift for someone like the time I bought a scarf kit in a knit shop a few blocks from the Harvard campus. I knitted that scarf on our way home for my friend who was one of the first women to enter and graduate with her master's degree from the Harvard School of Business. She loved it!
