Humble Hands Prayer Shawl Ministry
Created By: Ann Adams
We had a lot of yarn left over from previous holiday craft fairs that we had conducted for several years. Both of us felt it was a sin to have all this yarn just sitting around and wondered what we should do with it. The next Wednesday we went to a Bible Class where a young woman told us she had received a Prayer Shawl. On Friday, we were told that our pastor had received a Prayer Shawl. We both knew that this is what God wanted us to do with our yarn. We formed Humble Hands Prayer Shawl Ministry in December, 2007 and in two months have given away 35 prayer shawls. We began with just the two of us making the shawls and have grown into about seven women who are knitting or crocheting them. We have had two eleven year old girls come to us for lessons so that they could contribute to our ministry. The response has been overwhelming and we have been touched by the many heartfelt notes we have received. Although our goal is to share God's love with those in need, we have been richly blessed by having the opportunity to serve others in this way.
