Babies to Deacon's Wife
Created By: Barbara S. McDonald

My Prayer Shaw Ministry began by knitting baby hats for newborns in a local hospital. From there, I began knitting baby blankets, working on these projects at baseball games, traveling in the car, etc. No one is aware that you are praying for the baby and the parents. But what better way to begin a new life than to receive a blanket, hat, booties that someone has prayed over and even was able to include the baby/parents name in my prayer. I save these blankets and present them as I hear of newborns. I was even able to give a blanket to a professional baseball player who was about to become a new father!

Recently, I knitted a shaw for the wife of a Deacon candidate from our church. I asked God to cover her and empower her as she lives her life as the soul mate of a Deacon. He will be ordained in May and I will be presenting the shaw to he. Hopefully she will be able to wear it on ordination day, or on "deacon wife duty days."

I have come to pray for anyone I knit a project. My grandbabies are included in my prayer as I knit sweaters and ponchos for them.

How blessed I am that God has brought me to this ministry. It has turned an idle job into a time of prayer and reflection.
