healing thru shawls
Created By: S Stacey

I heard about the prayer shawl ministry from a lady at our church camp she was knitting a beautiful gray shawl. Being a knitter at that time i wanted to know more. So I found out the size it needed to be and the needles used. I got some yarn that reminded me of the waves of the ocean.

I was told by one lady that her husband was sick and had gotten a shawl. He told her one night that he was cold but instead of getting a sweater he wrapped the shawl around him he said he was thankful for it being it was hard for him to get up and walk. She told me she just received her first shawl and didn't realize how comforting it was.

After an injury to my wrists (arthritis) i couldn't knit anymore but i found crochet comforting. So i started crocheting shawls , one lady found out about this and started gathering yarn from her friends and herself. Next thing i knew i was given garbage bags full of yarn for shawls. To me this was so generous because i can't afford the price of yarn. I just keep crocheting some are multi colored and some are one color it depends on what yarn is in the bag. To date I have made 26 shawls. The pleasure i get from making someone something is as much as the person receiving.

If you are a knitter or crocheter or just beginning you might want to try this project. After your first shawl you will feel so proud of what you have done, the joy you received doing it and just thinking of who might receive it that's the fun part
