Perfect timing
Created By: Carol May

Last month, during the comments portion at our church, Susan showed the congregation the Leisure Arts book on Prayer Shawls. She wanted to know if anyone might be interested in joining her, to start this project within our church. After the service, I went to her and explained that I was moving shortly, and wondered where I could donate some of the yarn I had gathered over the years. I wanted my precious yarn stash to do some good in the community, but hadn't figured out how that was to happen. We ended up holding a meeting at my house. There were just a few that wanted to join us, but I had a bed in my guest room piled high with full balls of yarn. This yarn is being stored at the church, for anyone to get their yarn for this project. We got the excitement started, so the women even took their knitting to church the following Sunday, to show what they were doing. I made the first shawl from Elizabeth Zimmerman's Pi Shawl. It was given to a lovely older lady who is getting rather frail, but has contributed so much to our church. In this short time, the momentum is building, and we are getting more interest every week.

Our church is the North Oxnard United Methodist Church.

I am Carol May, a part time knitwear designer.
