Wise Granny
Created By: R Ruth
I can't remember my life without knowing to read, crochet, knitting!!. My Granny came to our home every fall-winter time, and she was at a time an elementary school principal. She taught me to read, and she gave me the most wonderful hooks, needles, yarn she could find. "The best I can give to my DGD,so she will love it forever" she said. It was really easy to work with, and fast nice patterns and all her patience. Only the basic stitches, that was only I needed.
After supper, we (granny, Mom, me) were doing their work while we talk , laugh, so my association of keeping my hands occupied was a real nice thing.
Living in a poor country, government changed, and there was nothing at the market to buy!. Sure you could find yarn, thread, and we already had the needles and hooks.
Those were the "flower power" years for me, nobody here knew so much about that here, so imagine me!, at the U. studying biochemistry, and my so dear jeans ( just 1 pair, as they were imported) came out of laundry with holes due to the acids we used!, well, not a tragedy, my hooks were ready, a crocheted flower (Daisy), a nice ladybug (Margarita), a snail (Pooky), and at the end of the semester with my jeans covered with my "friends", my Mom bought me at the blackmarket a new pair, and kept my "crocheted friends jeans" until the day she went to the Lord.
Times changed and when I was pregnant, I knitted and crocheted to my kids the most wonderful patterns I could find.
Now I live alone (??), not alone!, I have my hooks and needles and so real nice sites, as you have, with patterns out of the world!. I am now researching more of hyperbolics, and crocheting them to understand!!
And well, my daughter is now the "mother" of "Best Bunny", "Sleepy Kitty", and she has the "Mondrian Blanket" as a wallhanger.
Me?, Martha's shawl, and many scarves, afghans, totes, (nobody here knows what an afghan is!!). Thanks, Granny, Mom, to encourage me to crochet and knit, and always a nice word for my work.
My only pity is not to find Lion Brand here,
Ruth in Chile
