It seems funny but most of us think that we can do very little to help others; it takes money and large corporations. But three years ago, I ran across an article about blankets for children in foster homes, hospitals, any place a child needs comfort and realized that I could do this. But again I am one person, so that year I introduced Project Linus to my Eighth grade students and asked who would be willing to give up two recesses per weeks to learn how to crochet and make blankets for this cause. This will be my fourth year and I usually have 6-10 girls who will give up their own time to first learn how to crochet, often with one or two girls teaching each other, and then to make blankets. This was a lesson to them that one person can make a difference.
