How Crochet Has Been There for Me
Created By: Susan Utter
I was first introduced to crochet when I was 5 years old and spent time with my grandmother, my father's mother. She was the most wonderful grandmother. She always had time to teach me the needleworks wheather it be sewing, embroidery, or crochet. She was very loving, kind and patient.
Her teachings have gotten me through some of the roughest parts and happiest parts of my life. I crocheted baby blankets when I was not able to get up because I was about to lose our third child. I made toys during that time also for all three of my children. I crocheted shawls for my grandmothers that they treasured until they both passed away. I crocheted while I waited at the pre-school my son attended because he had a learning disability. I crocheted flower baskets for all three of my children's weddings and for my friends children's weddings. I have made many other items I cannot remember or list over the years including afghans, doilies, etc. And each time I do each stich is made wtih a warm memory of the sweet loving grandmother who had the patience to teach me this wonderful craft. Now I am teaching my grandchildren.
