Knitting brings hope
Created By: Donna Brosseau
I started knitting when I was in Nursing School. It was and is a stress reliever. I enjoy the look on someone's face when I give them a knitted gift and they are so pleased. However, I realized how important knitting is to me when sixteen years ago, our sixteen year old daughter sustained a very serious head injury in a motor vehicle accident.
We were told that she had a 1% chance of living... Feeling so desperate and still in shock, I told my husband that I needed to go and get some yarn..When he asked me why, I told him with great confidence that I was going to make our daughter a knitted afghan with hearts on it so that we could put it on her bed when we brought her home. It may sound strange, but knitting gave me a way to fight back, as I felt so helpless. We did bring our daughter home 14 months later.
