How crochet changed my life.
Created By: Kathy Villanueva

As a little girl I'd watch my mother crochet with thin cotton thread and it would amaze me how she could create something so beautiful. I went oversea's to Holland in my early 20's and there I picked up a crochet needle and yarn- from there I went. I was very lonely, missing my family but every single time I picked up that needle I could feel my mother beside me. I have yet to really learn how to read a pattern but I can look at items and follow it until I master the look of the real item. I even give lessons at my job during lunch to several ladies who in turn have made some wonderful baby blankets & scarves. When money gets tight I always have a stash of things made and can sell them at work. Crocheting is a full time hobby for me because it's the one thing that takes the stress out of my body after a hard days work. I watch/listen to TV every night while crocheting. If I don't crochet every day I feel like I'm missing something. It's a big part of my life and my closet is proof because I have yarn from top to bottom and that's allot of yarn! I love the colors and feel of yarn so I guess you'd call me a yarn collector?! Anyway, even with my hands hurting at times I never give up and I believe that is why they hurt less and less because I keep them busy crocheting all the time.

Thanks for reading my story and I hope it will inspire someone to pick up that needle & yarn, get started learning how to crochet and relax their body while doing it! Have fun!!!
