Spread A Little Love Around
Created By: Sandy Van Wormer
I learned to knit when I was younger. But I really never knew how to do the more complicated projects. So I joined a local knitting group at the local Library and the projects began. I volunteer at the local hospital and I wanted to do something to help others. So I joined up to knit and crochet things for the babies like hats, booties, blankets and sweaters. Then I found out from an Ultrasound technician that I could make blankets for the Binky Patrol for children in crisis. So I got my knitting group interested in helping the babies and children. Soon they were bringing in lots of hats, booties, blankets and blankets for the Binky Patrol. Then I learned that the Oncology Dept. needed hats, and blankets for the cancer patients. So once again I started to spread out my talents to the different departments. I made lapghans and chemo caps for the patients. When I took them to the dept. the director took me to the nurses station and had me show the things I had made for the patients. She was the one who gave them out. She told me that the patients literally cried when they received a blanket knowing that someone really cared about them and their suffering. That made me feel so good to help others through love. So I continue to reach out in love and I will be doing blankets for the Emergency room children who are in crisis as well and for the Rehabilitation patients in wheelchairs who need lapghans. So through it all, I have managed to Spread a little love around to all in need. Henrietta Knitting Group, Pleasant Lake, Michigan is my group and I am very proud of all the ladies. Sandy Van Wormer
