Duncannon Presbyterian Church Prayer Shawl Ministry
Created By: Roberta Lightner
In the summer of 2006 a friend gave me a newspaper with a story about the Prayer Shawl Ministry. I thought what a wonderful ministry. After reading the article I put it aside thinking I might like to do that. In August, I began thinking about the Prayer Shawl Ministry. God kept that thought coming back to me. So I took the idea to my church and asked Pastor Kris if we could start a Prayer Shawl Ministry in our church. She was all for it. We began our first meeting in September, we have 15 to 20 ladies crocheting or knitting Prayer Shawls. Your Homespun Yarn is one of our favorite yarns to use and book "The Prayer Shawl Ministry" featuring patterns and Lion Brand yarn is our patterns of choice. I can't begin to tell you how much this hobby of crocheting has benefited me by making Prayer Shawls for others. It is such a blessing. Since September 2006 the Duncannon Presbyterian Church Prayer Shawl Ministry have made, blessed and delivered 349 Prayer shawls, ponchos', lap robes or scarves. I myself have made 67. Crocheting is the most rewarding craft that I do, especially the Prayer Shawls
Thank You,
Roberta
