Nothing Else To Do
Created By: Cheryl McMillan

In October, 2006, I had surgery and was stuck in bed and not able to work for weeks. My mother taught me to crochet and knit when I was young but I hadn't done anything with that talent for many, many years. My wonderful girlfriends bought me needles, hooks and yarn, before my surgery. I printed free patterns, and how to instructions online, mostly Lion Brand. I began to experiment with the easy patterns, like the slippers, ponchos bookworms and skirts. I was surprised to find out that I remembered so much, I struggled with some things too, but I just asked my Mom what to do. I made little ponchos for my granddaughter, my neices and the little girls at my church. I made a skirt and poncho set for my granddaughter. I made slippers for my husband and my son(he wore them until they have holes). I made Christmas gifts. And my girlfriends and I even made things and sold them at a flee market, I couldn't go, because I was still recuperating but they called me with the exciting news each time something sold. This was the first time that I had ever done anything like this. Now another young lady at my church wants me to show her how to knit, because she just had surgery. Now I am knitting a sweater for my self. My friends and I were trying to think of a project for the next flee market this spring. I thank God for the gifts and talents that we have. Crocheting and Knitting are very soothing for me, helping me to relax and recover.
