I liked this design and wanted a smaller “faster” project so I bought the kit from Lion Brand. The color choice was hard between Willow and Mahogany Rose but I went for the pink.
I was very careful on gauging it and had to move up 2 hook sizes to meet the gauge. I was a little surprised it was rated as a beginner pattern as the slanted puff stitches took some practice to master and I have a lot of crochet experience.
The hat felt a bit shallow, like it wouldn’t stay on my head so I added an extra round of single crochet stitches before starting the brim. I am glad I did and if I ever make it again I might even add another extra round.
This took me (estimated) around 15 hours.
It is a cute hat and was easy to make. I gave it to my Mom and she said, "it is a little tight (Med/Lg), but at least I know it won't fall off my head".
