Crochet Kit - Midnight Garden Throw

SKU: B71784

Inspired by another one of my crochet blanket designs but with a much easier twist, the Midnight Garden throw uses two different yarns to create a stunning blanket that’s easy to size up or down!

Interesting pattern, but a few issues

I saw this and wanted to make it for my granddaughter in a different, lighter, girlier colorway. So I chose Landscapes breeze in Rainforest and Pound of Love in Quartz. The colors compliment each other perfectly. However, the texture of the two yarns is so different, I'm not sure they look or feel good together so I have stopped the project to see if I can search out a different yarn for the solid color that will have the same nice soft feel/drape of the Breeze yarn. I LOVE this yarn - the colorway I chose is stunning, it is easy to work with and crochets quickly with a metal hook. Pound of love seems cheap in comparison. Sorry Lion.
Now, the pattern is marked Intermediate, but I'm not sure I agree. I think it should be marked "too poorly written for a beginner" instead. Perhaps there is an error, perhaps I am just not talented enough but "Rnd 8: Sl st into next 2 sts, ch 2, hdc in same stitch as join and next st, ..."
What ? Are we turning around to do the HDC ? Then when do we turn back ?
I figured out, by following the balance of the row, how to make it work. But that is what made it too hard for a beginner.
Also, "Rnd 13: .......HDC in each st to next ch-2 sp....." Why is there not an exact number of stitches there ? Too lazy to count ? It's not like there are different sizes. Yes, a more experienced stitcher might figure it out, but if the pattern was done correctly, it would not be necessary.
Finally, I wish Lion would start adding diagrams to their patterns. Then when you do have an issue, it is sometimes easier to dicipher from the chart than the written instructions.
Anyway, if you are drawn to this project, be guided accordingly, as I think the end result will be stunning.
